Santa Fe Bead Expo

I have been beading like crazy for months. I have not been able to show you any of it because it was for a competition. I am not certain what the etiquette is for competitions so I decided to wait and post a photo when I was notified of their decision.

This project got so out of hand! I started with just making the book plates, you can see them on the inside. Then I decided I needed to house them in something, so I took that a little to literally. But I just could not stop! So then I set the plates in the house and realized that they needed to be the walls. On the sides you do not see Thing 1 and Thing 2 are running around with their kites intertwined.

Then of course it needed a roof. So I made one shingle. Then I made another one, this one outlined in black, like the ones you see here. Each shingle took around 2 hours.

Now that it has been accepted as a finalist!, I have a few things to do to it to make sure it will travel well and of course I have a few ideas to make it even better.

So....as soon as it is shipped I get to go back to my 2008 BJP which has been sorely neglected.

One more thing - last September I bought my ticket to go to Santa Fe. I love New Mexico, I love Santa Fe, I love beads, three birds with one stone! If any of you will be there and want to meet up for coffee or something stronger send me a note at brenda at lunacbede dot us.

Take Care all of you, I really treasure the time I get to look at all of your blogs.

Brenda! This and you are astonishing! All those blue shingles... OMG! I certainly hope you got into some sort of zone while doing them. And yellow walls... but then you had some fun with the words and cats, huh?! I want to hold this piece in my hands. I want to run my fingers over the beads and turn it every which way and look at all the little details... This better win to top prise!!!!!

Santa Fe... mid-March.. Who-hoo, you'll have a blast!!!! Be savin' your change... You're gonna need it!

Oh yes, this is too fabulous for words!

And I am trying to rearrange scheduling matters here so that I can possibly get up to Santa Fe while you are there, too . . .

This is going to be one heck of a piece! I saw the challenge to bead a book but had no idea of how to do something unique. You certainly have! It's terrific.
