My Changing Moment, a new tagging.

Due to a comment left on my last post, I have decided to start a new tag called MCM (My Changing Moment). It is just for us to tell our story about the moment that changed our lives forever.

Bead Babe, you're it!

My life changing moment happened when my son died 29 years ago All of a sudden, I was looking down on myself and the doctor who was telling me he was gone. It was as if I were critiquing my behavior. Very strange. Stayed that way for about 30 minutes. I started nursing school a month later and always seemed to have an affinity for terminal patients and their families. My son would have been 39 this Father's Day.

Twenty-seven and a-half years ago my first husband died of his sixth heart attack at the age of 48. There were four kids waiting at home to hear the news. They were 14, 12, 4 and 2. Although I had always been a strong, independent person prior to this event, I suddenly realized that these children now only had me to depend on. That two-year old was the glue that kept our family going -- she will be 29 next month.

The only father my youngest two girls have ever really known is my present husband -- and they could never have asked for a better father if they could have chosen one themselves.

It would be neat to make one of these to remember the life changing moments....You survived what happened and this is what you are celebrating in an Ex-votos.

Ex-votos are usually painted on tin or scrap metal by someone who managed to triumph over imminent death or some other terrible misfortune, courtesy of a Saint (frequently the Virgin of Guadalupe). The ex-voto chronicles the event in words and pictures, and finishes with thanks to the Saint who saved them and answered their prayers. I love these and I have several.
